Meet Sweet Benjamin! I just love that name. He was a delight to photograph and made my job fairly easy. He’s also one of the cutest little guys ever! I have had so many sessions outdoors lately, it was nice to get back into the studio and do what I love most, Newborn photography <3

Thanks so much for bringing him in, it was great getting to see you both again, and meet your sweet boy.

I am beyond excited that I had the chance to shoot this awesome lady’s second maternity session. She is a client, turned friend that ended up moving away, so having her back in BC to do this session meant a lot, to both of us!   She really misses B.C’s gorgeous mountain views and wanted to incorporate those views in her session. I think its safe to say we accomplished that with these images.

Miss you already B! <3

I know I’ve said it before, but it really shows when two people have a true connection. Images come out so much more romantic and true. These two were not only fun to be around, but easy to photograph. I love sessions that just sort of flow easily without a lot of effort. I love their style and so envious of Ashley’s hair! Looking forward to seeing you guys again!

Oh how I loved hanging out with this little guy.  When it came time to check out his cake, it was serious business.  That icing looked delicious, I don’t blame him for concentrating on one thing and one thing only in that moment. I must admit, I was a little jealous of his life while he had two fists full of icing  😉

Thanks so much for bringing him into the studio, he was a pleasure to photograph <3

I did a contest a little while back on my Facebook page. Check out my Facebook here if you ever want to join in on the fun, and possibly win free sessions.  When I pulled Amanda’s name from the bucket, it looked familiar but it didn’t clue in right away that they had booked their newborn session with me months before.  I’m so glad I got to meet them before hand and capture some sweet maternity shots. They are basically models so this session was an absolute breeze.

Can’t wait to see you guys again, and meet your sweet little one!

I am going to miss doing family sessions! I only offer them from June – September, and then one or two dates only in October for fall minis. It’s not because I don’t love shooting them, but with B.C weather it makes it very difficult. My style of family photography is filled with brightness and realism. True smiles and happy kids make for the best images in my opinion. I don’t get a lot of happy kids in -2 weather lol. Maternity sessions still take place all year around, as they are time sensitive of course.

This family is one of my absolute favourites. Ive known Amy a long time now, before she became a mamma of three! Its pretty cool watching your friends go through each chapter in their lives. She’s an incredible person, so no surprise she’s a fantastic mamma! Don’t even get me started on how adorable her kids are! Seriously… someone call the GAP and let them know we found their new cover family. Oh and Jordan… well he is pretty cool too 😉

Enjoy your images guys!

I know I sound like a broken record when I say this, but I’m going to go ahead and say it anyways.  One of my FAV sessions to do is one year portrait sessions of the newborns I photographed a year prior. It is so fun for me to see how much they have grown and what they look like now.  This little guy was super content and relaxed  for his newborn session and not much has changed in terms of that for his one year. I could have had him hang out in the studio all day.  His parents are pretty cool too, so it must be where he gets it 😉

Have you ever met someone and instantly just felt comfortable around them?  Thats how I felt with this family. They are so sweet and easy going. Their little girl is a hoot, and well… they are just plain great to me around! We chased some golden light and ended up with some great candid shots. Sometimes asking couples to get close for the more romantic shots can feel a bit awkward or uncomfortable at first. I totally get it, and thats why I give complete direction right down to how to place hands and fingers. For this young married couple though, they needed little to no direction and pure chemistry shines through in these images. Not to mention brit is an absolutely knock out! Thanks for making my job a breeze guys! Hopefully your newest addition makes my job easy too! ha  See you in a few weeks!

This session was actually done in two parts. Jenn and I explored the beautiful beaches of Vancouver for an evening/hangout session and then a few days later did some with her 7 year old daughter. I think the mommy and me portion of this session is my favourite. Not so much because of the picture outcome but because its something special they got to do together before their little boy arrives. Capturing some sweet moments between mom and only child before life changes, is extra special.

It was great capturing this session for you Jenn, I hope you love them <3

I know for a lot of parents booking or attending their newborn session can feel a bit stressful. You wonder if your little one will cooperate. What if he doesn’t? Will he/she be comfortable what if he/she cries the entire time, or doesn’t sleep.  All you want is those adorable shots of your little one. You would hate to fork out the cash and him/her not cooperate and you end up with nothing.

Well… I promise you. That will not happen!  With three kids of my own (including twins) Im very confident and experienced with handling and carrying for babies. I have shot hundred of newborn sessions and know what they do and don’t like/need. Of course moms always know best and some babies just do not enjoy being unswaddled and posed, and that is OK! After all.. these are HUMANS we are dealing with here! My number one focus when you are in the studio is that baby is safe and comfortable. That’s one of the reasons I crank the studio to 30 degrees! So when your little one is naked, he’s warm and cozy.

I have had a pretty long string of chill babies lately, so I was due for a challenge. This little guy likes one thing for sure… his mamma!  My youngest daughter was the exact same way (still is at 2.5 yrs)  so when Mamma mentioned she was worried we wouldn’t get much, I could relate with how she could feel that way.

I just wanted to touch on this subject for this blog to share with people that the concerns of ‘uncooperative’ babies does not mean you will end up with anything less then beautiful images.
