Oh how I loved hanging out with this little guy.  When it came time to check out his cake, it was serious business.  That icing looked delicious, I don’t blame him for concentrating on one thing and one thing only in that moment. I must admit, I was a little jealous of his life while he had two fists full of icing  😉

Thanks so much for bringing him into the studio, he was a pleasure to photograph <3

I know I sound like a broken record when I say this, but I’m going to go ahead and say it anyways.  One of my FAV sessions to do is one year portrait sessions of the newborns I photographed a year prior. It is so fun for me to see how much they have grown and what they look like now.  This little guy was super content and relaxed  for his newborn session and not much has changed in terms of that for his one year. I could have had him hang out in the studio all day.  His parents are pretty cool too, so it must be where he gets it 😉

One of may favourite things is getting to see the newborns I photograph, again at a year. It’s so crazy how fast time really does go by, and how much they change in just one short year. While I love newborns of course, Its so neat to see what their personalities are like at a year.  I adore this little guy, and his parents are pretty awesome too 😉

Thanks for bringing him in Brit, looking forward to seeing you again soon.

There is nothing I love more then doing newborn photos for clients and then getting to see the babes again at a year. Its so neat to see how much they have grown and see what their little personalities are like.  A lot of people think because cake is delicious toddlers will just automatically love smashing it for photos. That is far form the truth. I think on average half the little ones that come in for photos are either scared of their cake or hate the feeling of being dirty. I always suggest doing a test run at home with a cupcake or small cake to see how they react to the cake before the actual session. This will give you an idea of how it might go the day of photos. Here is an example of very little actual cake smashing and a lot of portraits instead.  Either way you will always end up with great images, even if the cake smashing portion doesn’t go as planned.

I stopped offering cake smash/1 year portraits for awhile while I got my studio completely setup last year. But I am officially offering them again. YAY! Little ‘A’ was such a sweetheart! She was happy and totally loved the cake her mamma made her. I did her newborn portraits last year so seeing her again was so nice. I absolutely love when I get to see the newborns I photographed again!

Thank you so much for being such a loyal client Amy, and bringing your sweet girl in for another session.

Enjoy your images

What a year. 2016 was a year of learning for me. While Ive been doing photography for a few years part time, it was my first real year of solely being a photographer as my full time career. Like anything worth while, it has not been the easiest journey. I’ve had moments where I thought quitting was the right decision, but the obsession and passion I have for this art made it impossible. Thankfully, I also have the most encouraging husband and support system at home that keep me focused in the most positive way imaginable.

I think being obsessed with photography is an absolute must to keep a business successful. Weather it be the edits I’m working on, the locations I want to explore, my never ending need for props, or my obsession with light or shadows. In one way or another photography is always on my mind. Its like its a piece of me now. That is what keeps me going in this business.

While there are so many more things I want to do in 2017, I sit and look at my past year in review and feel, proud. Proud I stayed true to myself, my passion, my art, and followed my dreams and became what I always wanted to become. A photographer.  Im thankful my husband encouraged me to follow my passion. Now I can show my kids if you follow your hopes and dreams… they too can be anything they want to be with determination, hard work and passion.

I wanted to post 2392834037 more images from this year, but didn’t want to over due it so here are a few I decided I wanted to share before this year comes to an end.

If you got this far into this blog… thank you. You are likely the exact reason I kept going. Supporters, clients and my sweet family. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

happy new year.

I really thought I had a connections with babies and kids. Until I met T. He is not a fan of me, at all! haha   Maybe its me, maybe its my camera, maybe its being placed in tins or the crazy weird sounds I try and gain his attention with. Either way.. since birth.. he hasn’t liked me. but one day… one day sweet baby ‘T’… we will be friends!!! haha

This session started as a one year cake smash session.. turned into a take 2 same day family session. Good thing this family is camera ready at a blink of an eye!  I actually really love how these images turned out. Even though ‘T’ didn’t have the best time.

Enjoy your shots guys!

There are so many things I love about what I do, but one of my favourites is watching families grow. I started with Maternity with M + P and then newborn and now a family session. I feel so lucky to be able to capture these times for people. I know it probably sounds a bit cheeseball to some, but creating images for people who will cherish them for life is pretty darn rewarding if I do say so myself. 😉 Ok ill stop rambling now. Enjoy your teaser shots guys!

Oh little baby T. I typically have great connections with my wee baby clients, but this one is a hard shell to crack! During his session he didn’t want to give me a whole lot of smiles. But when he did… oh my goodness! It was like the entire studio lit up. He is SO stinkin’ cute!! Look at the first image. Its what mamma brought him over in. I just adore it! I don’t typically shoot sitter sessions in regular baby clothes. I always use the props I have. I just could not resist one shot of this outfit though. Thanks Noaka for bringing him in. Maybe we can get together for a 1 year session… and maybe he will like me! haha
